Arbour regains Assembly seat

Conservative Tony Arbour held his seat on the London Assembly - increasing his majority fivefold.
Mr Arbour has represented the South West constituency covering Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, since 2000.
Analysts had earlier predicted that the South West seat could swing to the Lib Dems but the Tories maintained their hold on the constituency.

Congratulations Tony - what a shame that we also didn't have a chance to get rid of the awful LibDem council and Susan Kramer here in Kingston.
With the fiasco that is education in Kingston caused by the LibDems and Susan's 'fantastic support' of parents for a new school in North Kingston, they deserve to get the next bloody nose when we get a chance.
The council charges incredibly high council tax here but doesn't give us much in return... What does Susan give us? Re-zone Kingston station, save the view of St Paul's cathedral and stop shooting the deer in Richmond Park!! And this is from someone who wanted to be mayor of London and people considered for the leader of the LibDems.

Hmm, wasn't it Tony Arbour who was leader for 4 years and failed to cut council tax whilst sitting on a slushfund of £50 Million pounds!

Voters didn't forgive the small man Stephen Knight who claimed that the 3.6% rise in council tax was less than inflation which was 2.2% at the time.

Susan kramer is fantastic in the house of commons. I get 'they work for you' email alerts and am very pleased she is active and accurate. Tony Arbour gives me the creeps, he is not so good at speeches and no matter what he says

I received an eve-of-poll leaflet from the Lib-Dems telling me that [quote]'just a few votes'[/quote] would seperate their candidate from the [quote]'unpopular'[/quote] Tory candidate. Those few votes turned out to be 26,928. Just proves you can [bold]NEVER[/bold] trust Lib-Dems to get anything right! And as Tony Arbour received the votes of 76,913 local residents, I wonder how many he would have got if he was popular? Or will Susan Kramer admit she's got it totally wrong - as always.

Congratulations Tony Arbour. Anyone that knows Tony will be aware of the tremendous amount of good work he does for local residents. He faught a high profile campaign on issues that matter to local people. I'm glad that the negative campaigning of the Lib Dems was dismissed by the voters of SW London.

Tony C, don't be silly - the swing to Arbour was nothing to do with him. He rode Boris's coat tails. Without Boris it's likely he would have lost. Done a lot for the SW? What, like blocking the Cross Rail SW extension? Smashing

Tom, London insults the SW London electorate by suggesting they only voted for Tony Arbour because of voting for Mayor Boris. There have been three SW London Assembly constituency elections since in 2000, Tony Arbour has been victorious in all three.
And Tom, London needs to get his facts straight, and not parrot inaccurate Lib Dem propaganda. Tony Arbour did not “block” Crossrail in this area – the culprit was Alistair Darling [who was then Transport Secretary] – back in 2004!
